Concrete is the one of the most important building material made of mixture of cement, sand, aggregate mixed with water to form plain cement concrete if it is provided with steel reinforcement bar then it will be reinforced cement concrete.

Plain cement concrete and reinforced cement concrete used to form structural member of building like concrete floor slab, RCC footing, RCC beam, RCC column and RCC slab. Today concrete is used in various project in construction civil engineering, in construction industries, formation of commercial building, Apartment, high rise building, Bridge, dams, Reservoir, tunnels, etc.

Concrete is good in compression and weak in tension, to increase their strength reinforcement Steel bar embedded in it. In this article we know about weight of concrete per square meter. There are three types of concrete- light weight concrete, standard concrete, and heavyduty concrete.

Generally thickness of slab is kept about 100mm (10cm), or 140mm (14cm). Weight of concrete slab per m2 is depending on grade of concrete, mix ratio, light weight concrete, standard concrete, and heavy duty concrete.

Weight of solid slab of standard concrete is about 240kg (kilo) per square meter at standard thickness of 10cm (100mm), 336kg at 14cm (140cm), 360kg at 15cm (150mm), and 300kg at 12.5cm (125mm). The weight of concrete is determined by its density, which can vary based on the amount of aggregate, sand, water, and air in the mix.

A solid slab of concrete has an average weight is about 240 kg per m2 at 100mm thickness. The actual weight per yard can vary based on the ingredients and ratios used to make the dry mix and the amount of water used to mix it.

Stronger concrete is heavier per m2 because it has more stone than cement. Weaker concrete is lighter per square meter because it has less stone and more cement.

How to calculate weight of concrete slab per m2

You are preparing a ready mix concrete for casting of slab which shall be at 100mm, 125mm, 140mm and 150mm thick then what will be their weight per m2 & how do you calculate concrete quantity.

To calculate weight of concrete slab per m2 (square meter), convert the thickness of slab in meter. Multiply weight of 1m3 of slab that is 2400kg by thickness of slab in meter to get weight of concrete slab per square meter.

Weight of concrete slab at 10cm
● Thickness in meter = 10/100 = 0.1 meter
● Concrete weight = 2400kg × 0.1= 240kg
● Concrete slab weight per m2 = 240kg

Weight of concrete slab at 12.5cm
● Thickness in meter = 12.5/100 = 0.125 meter
● Concrete weight = 2400kg × 0.125= 300kg
● Concrete slab weight per m2 = 300kg

Weight of concrete slab at 14cm
● Thickness in meter = 14/100 = 0.14 meter
● Concrete weight = 2400kg × 0.14= 336kg
● Concrete slab weight per m2 = 336kg

Weight of concrete slab at 15cm
● Thickness in meter = 15/100 = 0.15 meter
● Concrete weight = 2400kg × 0.15= 360kg
● Concrete slab weight per m2 = 360kg

How much does a square meter of concrete weigh

A square meter of solid slab of standard concrete, which visually is 1 meter long by 1 meter wide, can weigh about 240kg per m2 (square meter) at thickness of 10cm (100mm), 336kg at 14cm (140cm), 360kg at 15cm (150mm), and 300kg at 12.5cm (125mm). The weight of concrete is determined by its density, which can vary based on the amount of aggregate, sand, water, and air in the mix.

With a standard thickness of 100mm, normal weight concrete can weigh about 240 kg per square meter. Mathematical calculation like this convert 100mm into meter, 100÷1000 = 0.1m, multiply thickness in m by 2400kg such as = 0.1 × 2400kg = 240 kilo.

With a standard thickness of 140mm, normal weight concrete can weigh about 336 kg per square meter. Mathematical calculation like this convert 140mm into meter, 140÷1000 = 0.14m, multiply thickness in m by 2400kg such as = 0.14 × 2400kg = 336 kilo.

Conclusion:

A square meter of solid slab of standard concrete, can weigh about 240kg per m2 (square meter) at thickness of 10cm (100mm), 336kg at 14cm (140cm), 360kg at 15cm (150mm), and 300kg at 12.5cm (125mm).
