M10 concrete ratio for 1 cubic meter

M10 concrete ratio for 1 cubic meter | concrete mix ratio for M10 concrete | proportion of cement, sand and aggregate for 1m3 of M10 concrete.

M10 grade is low strength plain cement concrete mix suitable for unreinforced structure, PCC, Paths, driveway, levelling courses, bedding for footing, beams and columns.

In M10 concrete mix, M stands for Mix and numerical figure 15 is overall characteristics of compressive strength measured in N/mm^2. Grades of concrete are defined by its compressive strength and composition of the concrete- cement water ratio, amount of Sand and aggregate, and the minimum strength the concrete should have following 28 days of initial curing after construction.

Characteristic strength of concrete is their compressive strength which can be determined by axial compression test on cubic concrete block or cylinder shape. If Compression test is carried on cubic concrete block, when tested with cube size 15cm × 15cm × 15cm, that’s known as Cubic test and their strength is called cubic strength.

To prepare 1 cubic meter of concrete, you would need 1.54 m3 of dry ingredients such as cement, Sand, stone and water. Let’s know about dry and wet volume of concrete, your given 1m3 of concrete is wet volume. For converting wet volume of concrete to dry volume of material mix we multiply it by 1.54.

From where 1.54 will come come, when water is poured in cement, sand and aggregate mixture the volume of dry mixture is reduced to some extent. % of voids due to fine aggregate is about 20%, % of voids due to course aggregate is about 34%, so total void percentage is about 54%.

As per calculation, we have to add 54% extra to get the dry volume of the concrete. So, dry volume of concrete for 1m3 would be 1.54m3 (dry volume = 1m3 of wet concrete + 54% of wet concrete volume = 1.54m3.

M10 concrete ratio for 1 cubic meter

The common nominal concrete mix ratio to create M10 concrete is 1 : 3 : 6. This means, 1 part of Portland cement mixed to 3 parts of sand and to 6 parts of stone by volume. If you measure components of concrete by bucket, so, one bucket of cement will mix with 3 buckets of sand and 6 buckets of stone.

M10 concrete ratio for 1 cubic meter is 1 : 3 : 6. This means 1 part of cement (about 4.5 bags of 50kg cement) mixed to 3 parts of Sand (740kg of Sand) to 6 parts of Stone (1340 kg aggregate) and about 110- 140 litres of water to yield 1m3 of M10 concrete.

Quantity of cement to make 1m3 of M10 concrete with 1:3:6 mix ratio

Let’s proceed do the calculation:
● 1) Total dry volume of concrete mix required for 1m3 of concrete = 1.54m3,
● 2) Density of cement = 1440 kg/m3,
● 3) Weight of cement bag = 50kg
● 4) Total proportion = 1+3+6 = 10, so parts of cement in mix = 1/10,
● 5) Required cement quantity in m3 = 1.54×1/10 = 0.154 cubic metres.
● 6) Required cement quantity in kilograms = 0.154 m3 × 1440 kg/ m3 = 222kg,
● 7) Required cement quantity in bags = 222kg / 50kg = Approx 4.5 bags of cement.

Quantity of sand to make 1m3 of M10 concrete with 1:3:6 mix ratio

Let’s proceed do the calculation:
● 1) Total dry volume of concrete mix required for 1m3 of concrete = 1.54m3,
● 2) Density of sand = 1600 kg/m3,
● 3) 1m3 of sand = 35.2 cubic foot of sand
● 4) Total proportion = 1+3+6 = 10, so parts of sand in mix = 3/10,
● 5) Required sand quantity in m3 = 1.54× 3/10 = 0.462 cubic metres.
● 6) Required sand quantity in kilograms = 0.462 m3 × 1,600 kg/ m3 = 740kg,
● 7) Required sand quantity in cubic feet = 0.462 × 35.2 = 16.3 cubic feet.

Quantity of aggregate to make 1m3 of M10 concrete with 1:3:6 mix ratio

Let’s proceed do the calculation:
● 1) Total dry volume of concrete mix required for 1m3 of concrete = 1.54m3,
● 2) Density of sand = 1450 kg/m3,
● 3) 1m3 of sand = 35.2 cubic foot of sand
● 4) Total proportion = 1+3+6 = 10, so parts of aggregate in mix = 6/10,
● 5) Required aggregate quantity in m3 = 1.54× 6/10 = 0.924 cubic metres.
● 6) Required aggregate quantity in kilograms = 0.924 m3 × 1,450 kg/ m3 = 1,340kg,
● 7) Required aggregate quantity in cubic feet = 0.924 × 35.2 = 32.6 cubic feet.

To prepare 1m3 of M10 concrete with nominal 1:3:6 mix ratio (1 cement: 3 Sand: 6 aggregate), you would need approximately 4.5 bags of 50kg cement, 740 kg of Sand, 1340kg of Stone and 110- 140 litres of water.
